Fiction as a Therapeutic Device: a conversation with Simon O’Sullivan

I’m very excited to share this discussion with the artist, writer and educator Simon O’Sullivan that was recorded for the Therapeutic Landscapes podcast.

Focussing on Simon’s recent book The Ancient Device, we discuss how fiction, ritual, performance, landscape and therapeutic practice come together in his work. We discuss the book’s journey through English ceremonial landscapes, mummers’ plays, rave and traveller culture, wounded characters, internal worlds, and the possibility of using fiction as a kind of device or prop for individual and group transformation.

Many thanks to Rebecca Burns for her excellent editing of and introduction to our discussion.
